Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 September 2026
RandomAha is a website for discovering and submitting short ideas and facts. This policy explains what information we handle and how to contact us about it.
Information we collect
- Account details: If you sign in with ChatGPT and open My account, we receive your account identifier, email address and available name. We store your chosen alias, account visit times, and the submissions you make.
- Submissions: We store the name or alias, idea, supporting text, review status and submission time. If approved, the idea and credited name or alias appear publicly. Your account email is not shown with an Aha.
- Contact messages: Our contact form collects your reply email, optional name, message, topic and time sent. We store a hash of the connection address alongside the message to limit repeated submissions; the raw address is not stored in our contact inbox.
- Site usage: Google Analytics measures visits and interactions and may use cookies or similar identifiers. Our hosting and sign-in providers may also process technical information needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- On your device: Saved Ahas, display theme and some notice preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage. Clearing that browser data removes them from that device.
How we use and share information
We use this information to run accounts, review and publish ideas, reply to messages, understand site usage, prevent abuse and maintain security. The site owner can see account and submission details and contact messages in private management pages. We use hosting, authentication and analytics providers to operate the service. Those providers may process information outside Australia. We do not publish account emails or contact messages, and we do not sell your contact details.
How long we keep it
We keep account and submission records while needed to operate RandomAha and manage published content. Contact messages are kept while needed to respond and handle related issues. Technical information held by service providers follows their own retention settings. You can ask us to review or remove information using the contact form.
Your choices and requests
You can change your public alias on My account and clear saved Ahas or theme preferences in your browser. To ask what information we hold, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, use our contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We may need to confirm your identity before changing account information. We will review your request and respond through the email you provide. Some records may need to be retained for legitimate operational or legal reasons. If a privacy concern remains unresolved, you can seek guidance from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date above shows the latest version.
